Message from the Principal |
Hello KTA Families,
We’ve had a great first few weeks of the 2026–2027 school year! This past week, I enjoyed meeting many of our kindergarten parents at the PTO Kindergarten Meet & Greet, as well as connecting with families at our K–5 Curriculum Night. If you attended Curriculum Night, I hope you were able to grab one of our past KTA spirit shirts that we had available for free! If you didn’t get one, don’t worry—we’ll have more opportunities to grab a shirt, but they are going fast! We have several events coming up over the next couple of weeks, so be sure to mark your calendars: Friday, August 14: Early Release Monday, August 17: No School Thursday, August 20: $1 All-School Dress Day
Thursday, August 20, from 5:00–8:00 PM: KTA Night at Skateland For Skateland, just mention KTA at the door, and a portion of the entry fee and skate rental will come back to support our students and staff at KTA. It’s a great opportunity to have some fun together while supporting our school!
Please make sure to mark your calendars so you don’t miss any of these upcoming events. We’re off to a fantastic start, and I’m looking forward to all that this school year has in store for our students, staff, and families. Thank you for your continued support and for helping make KTA such a great community! Have a wonderful weekend, and as always, Go Tigers! Brian Gibson, M.Ed |

Arizona Healthy Schools Act |
Important changes for the 2026-27 school year
Arizona's new Healthy Schools Act changes laws governing food in schools, to help kids stay healthy. The law identifies 11 banned ingredients, and schools participating in federal meal programs cannot serve or sell foods with any of the ingredients. Additionally, food brought to campus during the school day must not contain any of the banned ingredients. Important! These new rules do not apply to parents packing their child’s individual lunch or snacks. You can still pack any lunches, snacks, or treats for your individual child. However, the new rules do restrict the foods allowed during classroom parties and other celebrations during the school day. For a full lists of banned ingredients, answers to frequently asked questions, and additional information, visit Kyrene.org/healthyschools.

| Attendance Matters
Kyrene School District is committed to working with families to improve student attendance and academic success. Our school will send email notices when a student misses four or more days of school, whether excused or unexcused. Additional notices are sent when a student reaches 8 and 13 absences. If a student exceeds 18 absences, a more formal letter will be sent, but it is our goal to partner with families before that happens. Kyrene has a webpage with resources to maintain good attendance habits, including our “Too Sick for school” guide to help determine when to keep children home.

|
| Please note that motorized vehicles and devices, including e-bikes and e-scooters, are not allowed on Kyrene school campuses.
Students may not use them as transportation to and from school, and they may not be operated or parked on campus. This restriction does not apply to approved accommodations such as mobility devices required for disabilities. Those devices are permitted.
The City of Chandler has laws regulating the use of motorized devices, including who can ride them and where. Kyrene’s practice is aligned with those laws, and we will continue to partner with police to help ensure the safety of our campus and community. City of Phoenix bike and scooter laws
