Hello KTA Families and Friends!
Here’s hoping you are all enjoying the last weeks of the school year, from dances to free dress, from field trips to parties….we are all taking the time to enjoy our friends, classmates and teachers.
We are taking down our displays and taking home art work and projects. And, we are reflecting. We are thinking about all the wonderful things that happened this year at KTA and thinking ahead, for the 2026-27 school year, which we are calling our LEGACY YEAR! All Kyrene teachers, staff, parents, students and alumni are encouraged and invited to join in for the fun and memory-making next year. There will be opportunities to come to events and celebrations. We will be selling LIMITED EDITION State 48 Legacy Year T Shirts, and we will be ensuring that our students have an amazing year ahead! PLEASE join us by helping with planning, with the PTO events and activities and working with your child’s teachers. We know that the year ahead will present challenges….but we also know it presents opportunities to re-imagine and create new memories and new, exciting things when we combine with Kyrene de la Paloma. We will be holding joint events such as ice cream socials and unified fun activities for all students so that we can get to know each other and begin to make new friends. PLEASE join us as the new year begins in July 2026!
Please watch the newsletters and FB posts and other communication avenues as things will start to come out in the beginning of July! What you can do NOW is respond to the short parent survey (links included in this newsletter). WE WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU as we begin to design our new school. Take the time to give us your input.
This week, our 8th graders had a blast at their annual field trip to Main Event! What a great time!
We also held our final Band Concert of the school year -the combined bands for grades 4 through 8. What a night!! Each band presented several songs and one was better than the next. Just fantastic! Thank you to all of our band students and a very special thank you to Ms. Lauren Scott, director of KTA Tiger Bands. This year was her 10th anniversary in this role and what a celebration and tribute to her skills! It was a memorable concert! It ended with the combined performance of all band students along with KTA alum and teachers and staff!
NEXT WEEK we have two huge events:
5th grade Promotion on Tuesday May 26 at 8 am in the MPR. We will start right on time at 8:00 am so please plan to arrive 7:45 and 8:00 am. You will enter through the garden gate on the Metro Side. The event will include short speeches from staff and students and light refreshments immediately following.
8th grade Promotion on Wednesday May 27 at 6:00 pm in the GYM. We are expecting a full house so please give yourselves enough time to park and enter, again through the garden gate on the Metro Side. The gate will open at 5:30 pm. Note for 8th grade families: 8th graders DO NOT attend school the following day, Thurs May 28, unless they are a member of the Tiger Pride Band and are performing with the band for the assembly Thursday morning.
Thursday is our Annual Last Day Moving Up Assembly….a KTA Tiger Tradition for 14 years! Each grade gets ‘officially promoted’ to the next grade with lots of cheers and excitement! A few tears are shed as well….parents are invited but know that it is a pretty short event (about 15-20 minutes). We will begin right at 8 am. [Enter through the Garden Gates, gates open at 7:45 a.m.] Our Tiger Pride Band will perform and it is a meaningful way to end the school year and celebrate the many accomplishments of 2025-2026.
Thank you all for your continued support and collaboration. Remember that there is NO SCHOOL on Monday May 25 in honor of the Memorial Day Holiday.
This week we had a wonderful visit from Callie Hinder, a KTA alum and a U of A basketball athlete! Callie shared her experiences with our girls in a fun filled assembly where she answered questions ranging from how to manage her college classes and practices to what was her favorite thing at KTA and her favorite teacher. It was great to see Callie and we wish her a wonderful season ahead at U of A.
Kinder students had a special celebration with parents this week, where they came to play outside games with them and enjoy special time as they finish their kinder year. Thanks to Mrs. Cano and Mrs. Slette for making the day special.
